Remember, Remember, the 1st of September

Hello fans and followers, welcome back to the blog.

We've reached a day that schoolchildren despise and lazy, underpaid sports fans cherish.  Of course, September wouldn't be as big of a deal if the Mets were playing better than a double-A team.  (Or the Bethpage little league all stars...but I digress.)

Football is just about in the air, and boy am I ready.  Me and big bro actually took the plunge and bought season tickets to the Jets.  Financial atrocity in the making?  Perhaps.  But it's a new stadium and we're ready for a season we'll hopefully never forget.

So off comes the Mets cap and on goes the Gang Green helmet.  It's not that I'm a fair weather Mets fan...I will still watch them on a nightly basis.  I will still go to the final game of my six-game ticket plan (an October 2nd clash of the titans with the Nationals--a game I was hoping would be an exciting/division deciding contest.  Instead I may turn it into a personal challenge; try to spend $100 at the game solely on beer.  It won't be easy, but dammit I'm willing to go that far for the Amazin's.)

Today was our ushering in of September.  Tomorrow we will hit with the hard stuff.  Sports Illustrated came out with their NFL Preview today, and I have vowed not to read it until I have formulated my own predictions.  Don't put your prognosticating evil on me, Peter King.  My views and opinions will be 100% my own with no influence of the so called 'gurus.'

I AM a guru.  And football is finally here.  Is it obvious that I'm a little excited?

Thanks for reading, and please check back tomorrow.
